Military Construction Project Drawings, 1916 - 1968

This series consists of drawings and plans of military construction projects in Arizona and southern California, as-built by the Los Angeles District Office of the Army Corps of Engineers. The material relates to Air Force and Army installations, harbor defenses, aircraft warning system facilities, municipal and contractor operated airports and other general projects. The largest number of drawings deal with Army and Air Forces bases located in California, including Camp Cooke, Fort Emory, Camp Haan, Fort Irwin, Fort MacArthur, the Mira Loma Quartermasters' Depot, Fort Rosecrans, Blythe Army Air Base, Edwards Air Force Base, George Air Force Base, March Air Force Base, Muroc Air Force Base, and Norton Air Force Base. Other California sites represented in this series are the Birmingham General Hospital, El Centro Airport, Hawthorne Municipal Airport, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Lockheed Airport, Ontario Municipal Airport, Van Nuys Metropolitan Airport and Vultee Airport. Drawings for projects located in Arizona include Davis-Monthan Field, Douglas Airfield, Fort Huachuca, Luke Air Force Base, Marana Army Air Field, the Nogales Airport, the Yuma Test Station and the Tucson Municipal Airport.
